Mecca for oysters and drinks with friends
One of the best happy hours in town - Everyday, 5-7pm, sit at the bar, all drinks $6, all OYSTERS $1.00 each!!!! (and i mean oysters... Effinghams, Kumamotos, etc)
Dinner at Home Restaurant
the kingston trio went to see KFOG's Kaboom! with one of the uncles)
Sunday, May 22
10am-2pm - Rehearsal/Training with the Magui. I was in pain the next day! But they can sure can play beautiful music. The director of Rythm & Motion where we were rehearsing came in, he said he heard the music and just had to find out who was playing it. He wanted to know if the Magui could do a workshop there. There were moments during rehearsal when all of us dancers just watched and listened. It was amazing. We learned a few dances, including Sagayan and Asik. It was absolutely beautiful to watch Faisal perform the Sagayan and the Asik, even though it was just basics. Eric did a marvelous job of picking up the technique. He looked fantastic! Nerinna will be doing the Asik for the shows (we had to go through a kind of audition process... which was incredibly nerve wracking!). I think Nerinna makes a beautiful Asik dancer (and the rest of us are relieved not to have to do it... though we were taught another dance which had us groaning and sweating, and we thought Asik was hard!!!)
4pm - On the road to Disneyland! We loaded the kingston trio in the car and headed to the happiest place on earth. Our annual passes expire in a few days and this was our last hurrah. (and i mean last! we're trading the disney gardens for camping this year)
Monday & Tuesday, May 23 & 24
We've learned that the best way to enjoy Disneyland is to go to the winery area in California Adventure FIRST, have a glass of bubbly or wine, and let the trio run and frolic. After that first glass, lines are never too long, and the trio's bickering become almost melodious background noise. We fill up on all kinds of theme park fare: chocolates, taffy, churros, fried chicken, etc etc...
Tuesday late night to 315AM... the drive back. The moon has been full and bright. I pretend we are navigating by stars through the dramatic and "breathtaking" landscape of highway 5... that is when I wasn't sleeping.
I can't believe i'm awake today. (I can't believe my stomach is still in one piece)
Later this week and next... more rehearsals with the Magui Friday night, show on Saturday afternoon at the Asian Art Museum (5/28), more rehearsal/dance workshops with them Sunday to Friday, show on Saturday (6/4) at Brava theater.
Of course there's also the dailies: the kids' homework to be done, dinners to be made, lunches to pack, parties and events to attend, laundry to be done, a house to be maintained, exercise classes not to be missed (specially if i keep eating oysters and foie gras... but i'm not complaining), lunch with friends, the 9-5 day, pictures to be edited, and sanity to be maintained. Good thing we bought that case of wine at Matanzas winery. I think i'll have to get more after the next few days.
