another laragitara moment - PMDD at TKB
i went to my TKB class a couple of days ago at the 24 hr fitness near the castro. fun class, i think a little silly sometimes, but it gets the ticker pumpin'. the airconditioner was broken that day, the room was hot as an oven and the class was full as usual. i was not feeling my best, and i knew it was because of the pmdd, among other things. i took a spot somewhere in the middle of the room. there's a woman who often takes the same class who likes to be right up front. she's in fantastic shape, really lean and sculpted, every muscle defined. she seems to really enjoy the class, i see her there all the times i've gone. i would've been envious of her toned physique, if it weren't for the fact she can't seem to follow the beat of the music... at all!! i'm no TKB expert, but i think like most folks in the class, i can follow along with what the instructor's doing within reason.
the class begins, warm up as usual. it's stiflingly hot in the room, the air is heavy, soaring temperatures i'm sure. i'm feeling mighty crabby, 10 minutes into the warm up i'm already sweating a lot, and i'm finding it hard to breathe. it's too hot! and this woman insists on doing everything off rythm. she's right next to the instructor, i can't not look at her. i have to see her do every single thing off count. i can't take it anymore. it's hot, and this woman is making me crazy. "tempo, woman!! tempo!!!" i say under my breath as i walk out of the class.
i've never walked out of a class before. pmdd, a broken airconditioner and contratempo TKB... it's just too much to handle. i get on a treadmill instead and try to relax.
