taking pause and eating my greens
taking a moment out of the busy day to note a few things...
ONE - dinner at the cruz's (E,T & little I) was so absolutely delightful! it was wonderful to see them and have more than a minute's worth of conversation. food was excellent, wine (from the "library") complemented prof's cooking as well as the figs, blue cheese and organic greens salad. let's do that again!!
TWO - i am way behind the times. i had no idea Herna, Manny and Brian lived there. boy, i really have missed a few chapters.
THREE - i have a parent teacher conference today (for Juju). why am i so nervous? i feel like i'm in trouble. we try so hard to be good moms and dads. trips to meet the teacher is always so nerve wracking!
FOUR - speaking of being in trouble, Dr. BN called me at work yesterday, and first thing i said to him, "uhoh, am i in trouble?" i know i'm behind on submitting photos for the Manoa Journal. i've actually been working on them, but there's so damn much! i've whittled it down from over a thousand images to 450. i'm still whittling away. i told him, i'll just send you a bunch and you choose. i think that will work. he just wants the blasted cd!! (and i just want it off my list!!) pleasure talking with Dr. BN, though, as always.
FIVE - all i can think of today is sushi. goin' to Tokyo GoGo, and all i can think of is the happy hour rolls and $3 cocktails. i'm sure after the parent teacher conference, i'll be needing a few. i'm goin' with a new friend i've made, and i'm hoping it won't rain so i won't slip wearin' my new bad for your knees and back but oh so pretty to look at heels.
SIX - i realized, after dinner at the cruz's, that i don't nearly see my old friends as much as i should... if at all! and i seldom, rarely ever make new friends. this is a good week then... keeping in touch with dear friends and making new ones... and all over good food and drink.
LASTLY - i also really really like, nay, LOVE! the organic green salad i've been buying lately from the saturday farmer's market on 24th street in noe valley. it's all mixed greens, with edible flowers, all organic, and pre-washed. at $4 per pound bag (and it's a pretty big pound), it's the right price (i buy 2 bags each time). great with figs (in season) & blue cheese, or with sweet cherry tomatoes and fresh mozarella. it's so good, i had to write about it. but really, it's not so much that i'm touting the health benefits of eating your organic greens daily, nor the benefits of supporting local farmers and taking care of the environment by not buying from mass produced farms (god knows what they put in the soil), nor because it's such a pretty looking salad (imagine those mixed greens... mache, baby spinach, arugula, radicchio, and all kinds of lettuce with all kinds of texture, color and taste i don't even know what they are called, peppered with pretty, fragile, delicate looking edible flowers of all colors of the rainbow)... i love the greens simply because of these magic words... PRE-WASHED! all i have to do is eat it. it's heaven on earth i tell ya!!
buy organic! and eat more flowers! you are what you eat after all...
