But I’m caught up in a whirlwind and my ever changing moods (part 2)

(the title's for fellow Councillor, VirtualErn)

another reason to love this town... i was walking out of my building to grab some lunch, and what do i hear? is that etta james belting out "at last"? i crossed market street towards the voice and approached a small crowd surrounding her, this woman who had the rich, commanding voice of etta but looked much like maya angelou wearing a lavender straw hat, sparkly dangling earrings, and a light floral skirt that danced in the breeze, with her keyboard accompanyist who wore a light grey summer suit and a cheerful yellow tie. i think it's part of the summer in the city music series, where they have various musicians and groups performing downtown throughout the summer. their rendition of "if i had a hammer" was glorious. when i closed my eyes, i thought i was in the presence of etta james and tina turner all in one under a blue sky amidst the concrete towers, soothing me, comforting me with that strong, warm, mother like embrace of a voice. at last indeed...
