well i'll be...

i've been in grief most of the day since i heard the news this morning of Datu Landas' passing. and then this afternoon, i received an email, a request to participate in a panel, the topic, "Sacred Traditions: Aesthetics, community and cultural significance". Bindlestiff is putting on a play called "Alamat". the last few weeks, i've been getting calls and requests from folks in the production, to borrow T'boli clothing, to look at footage and video of indigenous dance. would i be willing to lend clothing? would i be willing to share my footage? and now, this invitation to participate in panel discussions in conjunction with the play.

it seems things are falling into place, as if some cosmic wave is taking me, the universe opening its doors, showing the path... clear and bright.

what a day. maybe i'm dreaming. i am sleep deprived. last night, spent a good deal of time in the emergency room. juju slipped at her afterschool program, hit her head, needed stitches. she's fine. seems to enjoy showing off her stitches. earlier yesterday i had to go to my doctor... got anti-biotics for a persistent cough. today, news of death, not just of a person, but of a tradition. i've been wondering all day why i only found out today, of all days, that Datu Landas died. he died over a year ago, but we got the email only today.
