i'm no romantic...
... but i thought this is a perfect example of the kind of love that lasts, the kind of act that shuts my loud, sarcastic, jaded voice, and makes me humbly say... wow.
grandpa charlie jensen died 5 days short of his 70th wedding anniversary. every year, he always made sure he gave grandma wilma an anniversary gift. even during his last days, he never forgot. he had a present for her. it's just that this time, he didn't have a chance to give it to her himself. after his death, his children gave grandma his present on his behalf, a lovely simple necklace made of turquoise beads. she was wearing it during the funeral. like all the presents he's given her through the years, she will wear it everyday.
may we all have the kind of love that lasts that long.
[a correction to my previous post, grandma wilma is 90 years old now. but doesn't look a day over 70!]
