other music musings...
one of the positive outcomes of my near-divorce-experience late last year is it gave me an opportunity to re-discover the SF/Bay Area music scene. for your listening pleasure, i'd like to share with you some of my other favourite local bands:
Polkacide
yes, polka... but not your grandparent's polka, they are loud and hard and funny and furious and wickedly talented! and if you dare go into the polka pit, make sure you wear boots and be ready to slam polka!!! accordions and tubas have never been so much fun! kiehlbasa, beer and sauerkraut!!! yes, i went to their wild and slamming 20th year anniversary, and had lots of beer and laughs and polka'd in the pit (on the sidelines, man, that pit can be intimidating). check out the photos. yes, he "lost" his pants early in the evening. (and i thought lara g was outrageous). later that night the sisters of perpetual indulgence were on hand and gave the band an award, for best "sausage".
Luce
they are on tour, but when back in the bay area, come hear 'em play! straight up band here, great sound. put on your dance shoes and listen to "good day".
Janis Hunt & the Groove Ambassadors
if you like jazz, if you like funk and soul, Janis is the woman to groove ya! fabulous, svelte and talented singer, check out the songs on this site and you'll see what i mean. (she's also a great friend of mine... in my next life, i'd like to be a backup singer for her... and Tina Turner!)
that's it for now.
"it's a pretty good day, and i'm lookin' forward to tomorrow, yeah!... have a good day!"
