city living
i love this town!! we celebrate diversity, we've got great restaurants, lots of terrific places to hear bands, see performances, we cultivate culture and the arts, we've got a hot progressive mayor who graduated from SI (did i mention he's hot?), we got parades and fairs for all kinds of events and people, we've got several museums, libraries and parks, a woman chief of police AND woman fire chief (did i mention hot young mayor?). we also have a nice price tag. 3,000 clams - that's how much my property tax is currently due, BI-ANNUALLY! very nice indeed.
we also just paid $973 for car repairs last week, $560 this week (of course it falls apart all at once!), $950 for isa's summer theater program (run by School of the Arts, or SOTA, and no, the fee does not include the cost of jazz shoes), and $2000 in mortgage (for the last 2 months). aahhh....
but i still love this town. in fact, i love it so much, i'm gonna go run around my neighborhood. run off the stress and anxiety and caffeine, up and down the hills as i check out the victorians and the edwardians and craftsman homes with the cute little flower boxes in front, with the summer fog climbing over twin peaks and mt. davidson spilling into noe valley. maybe i'll bring a cup with a sign "got spare change?" but i'll make the sign really creative... after all, i do live in a really distinctive town.
