what's the haps...

instead of having an ice skating party (because, i admit, i was not organized enough), number 3 will be celebrating her 8th birthday (which was last November 15) at 12 Galaxies this Saturday (i mean, where else do you take a bunch of 8 year olds right?). Dead Hensons will be playing a Holiday Family Show, all ages welcome, at 4pm. I've been dying to take the kids to one of their shows. the kids are thoroughly enjoying the old school Muppet Shows DVD's that are out now. and they love the Muppet Movie... don't we all love the electric mayhem, and who can ever forget mr. da frog singing about rainbow connections in a swamp on a lilypad? so, i thought, since there's a show coming up, and they have an appreciation for Jim Henson's music, and we haven't done anything for number 3... what the heck!! it will be a rocking fun time... old school muppet style!! (all pre-Elmo!!!)

you all are invited!! there will be cake at my house afterwards (and cocktails for the adults).

of course, this is the weekend when everything's happening. my cousin sheila (ms. sexy for those who know her), is also having her kid's baptism this saturday. it's a lunch event, so cool, i won't have to worry about lunch that day. i just have to make sure i make it to the right church (one of my relatives had a baptism last year, and i sent a bunch of people to the WRONG church!!) i'm also having relatives staying over for the baptismal festivities and chow down. the kids are very excited to see my cousin Christina and Jeff (shout out!!) who are coming up to stay with us from Costa Mesa (we crash at their casa everytime we go to DizzyLand). they ask keep asking me, is Hershey coming too? (Hershey is Chris and Jeff's dog... this beautiful chocolate brown lab... i think it's a lab) it will be a fun filled full house. just warning my cousins though, there will be all kinds of parties goin' on this saturday, and there will be all kinds of kids at the house saturday night (that is if number 3's friends can come... we're putting all this together sooo last minute). but not to worry, i'm prepared. i've got a full bar to help us through!

tomorrow, Friday night, Luce is playing at Slim's. because R is taking number one to see the movie Rent, i'm goin' solo to the show. but i won't be dateless. i'll be arm and arm with the dashing, delightful and "enlightened" dong kwan, who will be rockin' out with me to the tunes of one of my favourite local bands. first we'll meet at Les Amis, brand new french restaurant opened by a good friend, Thomas Wiebull (half Flipper/half Swedish) for cocktails and appetizers... we'll be all grown up and chic. then we'll head over to Slim's where hopefully, i won't embarrass mr. kwan when i start acting like the harlot groupie that i am. i missed Luce's show late summer, and i'm determined not to miss it this time. mr. kwan says he hasn't been to a live show in a couple of years. i sure hope this will be a good one for him. (and ya know mr. kwan, there will be all kinds of hotties there!!) you're all invited to join us too.. whether at Les Amis or at Slim's or both.

i think, after all the happenings this weekend... tylenols will be essential.
