dare to perform
we watched number one's performance last night at the school's dare to perform show. gosh, all those kids on stage were fantastic, considering most of them don't have any training. i especially enjoyed the stevie wonder tribute..."here i am baby! signed, sealed, delivered i'm yours!!" what an enjoyable evening.
this was the second time i've seen number one sing and dance. good lord, who is that child up there? like all the others, she was singing her heart out, and i could see her emoting and projecting with her whole soul. i was so happy for her. i was quite surprised when a few parents and teachers approached me after the show. they were so amazed by number one's transformation. she'd always been on the quiet shy side in school. but last night, she was someone else. they said she was great, a delight to watch, etc. i didn't know what to say. i was getting embarrassed. i just said she looked like she was having fun... practically upstaged everyone else....no i didn't add that last part.
anyway... she was amazing. all the kids were amazing. it's truly miraculous how the arts can transform a child.
